Getting Excited About the Tolkien Party!

I'm starting to get really excited about the upcoming Tolkien Blog Party of Special Magnificence.  Are you?  If you aren't yet, maybe these will pique your interest.  What are they?  Why, links to all the Etsy stores that are donating prizes this year!  I'm not going to tell you precisely what they're donating, as I'd like to keep that a surprise until the giveaways start.  But once again, there will be one giveaway open to people with US addresses only, and one open to people who live anywhere on the planet, including the US.  Some of these shops also donated prizes last year, and some are brand-new to this party.  So check out these awesome shops, maybe even try to guess what they're donating :-D   Many thanks to each of these splendid shop owners!

US Only

Caesar's Forum

Celebrative Design
Celtic Steam
Elf Script

Jethro & Henrietta
The Ring and the Lion
Lynellen's Embroidery Creations
Moss Hollowe

World-wide

I'm also donating some official Hobbit-movie bookmarks as prizes for the world-wide giveaway.  I bought them at the book store a while ago and have been holding onto them for the party :-)

What else do I have planned for the party?  A mix of new and old questions for you to answer and brand-new games!  They'll be similar to last year's games (something involving screencaps, something involving trivia, etc), but they'll be new variations.

I've created some new buttons and banners for the party.  Here are the new ones, and you can also find these and a bunch of the ones from last year on this page here on my blog.

Please use one on your own blog, linking back here, to spread news about the party!  It'll all start on Bilbo and Frodo's birthday, Sept. 22.  Only three weeks from today!  Huzzah!

    1. I just realized that 3 of my new buttons feature the door to Bag End. And the other is right outside the door. How funny!

:-D Glad you're excited! Thanks for sharing the button.

  2. Hmm. I meant to reread Lord of the Rings this year. I think maybe I should try it before this event. I have kind of fallen out of the Tolkien loop. I feel a bit lost when watching the Hobbit. I have not "studied" Tolkien enough.

    1. Well, if this inspires you to reread them, that would be awesome! Or even re-read the Hobbit :-)

  3. I guess I'm excited. I was inspired to read The Histories of Middle Earth. :-D

    1. Oh, just a leeetle. ;-) Definitely more excited than my brother. I tried to explain that the first (totally rockin') Steward of Gondor was named after him, and all he did was raise an eyebrow. *sigh* Boys.

    2. What's your brother's problem? Tolkien-related games and goodies for a whole week! Silly boy.

    3. He's only impressed by fighters. He thinks he's Eomer.

And, pfft, his reaction to a blog party is basically my dad's comment:

      "What are you doing?"
      "Working on a blog page"
"Well, that's not work, that's play."
      "..."

    4. Sometimes I think I'm Eomer. Nothing wrong with getting all fierce now and then.

I'm going to snort and then ignore your father's comment, as I rather expect you did.

    1. Yay! I'm happy to say that I now have all but one of the games ready to go. I do like having things ready ahead of time :-)
