Like the post title says, I have three things to discuss with you today! And they're such important things, I'm doing the same post on both of my blogs because I don't want any of my blogging friends to miss out.
First of all, I have finally started an official mailing list.
Okay, that was thing one.
Thing two I need to tell you about? I've been hired to write a column for the Prairie Times, a Colorado-based magazine! They print twelve issues a year, which are also available on their website. I'll be writing about different historical people and events from the American West. For someone who minored in both English and History, this is basically a dream come true!!!
And thing three... is a surprise. A Christmas present to all of you from me. But it's not quiiiiiiite ready for you to unwrap yet, so just know that it's coming, okay? I'm shooting for December 15, but I might have it done before then.
Okay, that's it! Time for me to go put up some more Christmas decorations and for you to... return to your regularly scheduled programming? Something like this, yes :-)

ReplyDeleteCool beans, Jessica!
DeleteCongratulations on being hired to write a column. That is so exciting. You must be thrilled. And now I am off to investigate Prairie Times since I am not familiar with it. It does sound like just your type of thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I am DEFINITELY thrilled :-) Getting paid to do what you enjoy is the best, huh?
DeleteWow, that's so cool you get to write for a magazine! Congratulations. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am very curious to see what's in store for Dec. 15th...
Thanks, Elanor! I think so too :-)
DeleteThe Christmas Present is ALMOST READY! So, so close.
Congrats on the mailing list and job!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie :-D
DeleteDecember 15th... that is only 4 days away, I'll be waiting... :-D
ReplyDeleteMC, I know -- so close. Just fine-tuning some details...
DeleteCongrats to you on having a column to write! How cool is that!? I hope you'll be able to share some snippets with us. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have the same issue on revealing my mailing address in my Etsy shop's newsletter. I decided to come up with an obviously fake mailing address (for example, you could create a fake address based on book titles, blog name, etc.) ... or maybe ... (I haven't tried it) but just replace the whole address with XXXXX or ------. Hmm, just a couple of ideas, if it helps. :)
Thanks, Tarissa! The magazine does make its current issue available online each month, so you'll be able to read it there. I'm working on getting permission to repost the articles to my own website a few months after each issue, we'll see how that works out.
DeleteThanks for the ideas! I actually did that for the one mailing list email I sent out, just used a not-quite-accurate address. That seems to me like I could get in trouble eventually, though. So I'm looking into a couple other mailing list services that other friends use that don't appear to share more than just your city and state. I WILL make the mailing list a reality!
Congrats on the writing gig!!!! That's so neat :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I understood that reference ;)
DeleteThanks, Olivia!
DeleteIt's my most-quoted Illya line. I use it almost on a daily basis. To the point that my kids say it too, instead of "Something like that." I think that they think it's a normal thing to say. Mwahaha!
