"Emma" 200th Anniversary Read-Along

Lois Johnson of You, Me, and a Cup of Tea is hosting a read-along of Jane Austen's Emma starting this coming Monday, July 6.  Not sure if I'll be able to join in (if I finish Middlemarch over the weekend, I will!), but I thought I'd let y'all know about it in case you want to join her!

  1. Ah, this sounds tempting. I have Emma up for later in the year but I may just move her up. I thought you were doing a Hamlet read-along this month. Did that idea get shelved?

    1. No, it got shoved. The "Little Women" read-along exhausted me, to be honest. So I've pushed the "Hamlet" read-along back to October.

    2. I'm glad to hear that it's still a go. Your Little Women posts and read-along attentions were awesome, but I can see why you're exhausted. I can't wait for Hamlet though. Given its length, hopefully no personal issues will have time to intervene in my read of it, like with LW. It's been an odd year with everyone requiring attention in a way I've never experienced before. I hope it's not the new normal but it might be for awhile. :-Z

    3. Hamlet has 20 scenes, so I was figuring on doing a post per scene, a post every 2 or 3 days. I think we could finish it off just before Thanksgiving if we begin it October 1. I hope you can join us! Some years go that way -- personal stuff crops up everywhere. Makes us appreciate the calm years, I suppose.

  2. I would read along, but I'm in the middle of four other books and not sure I could handle that or get all of them finished in the next few days. Hehe.

    1. Charity, I know how that is. I haven't been able to join in myself either -- too many other books on my pile right now.

  3. That sounds fantastic, but I'm trying to chill a little this month with the "required reading." None of it's actually required, of course, but the pace is getting to me while I'm covering for my vacationing manager at work. I need to slow down.

    1. Yes, I know what you mean! I'm already falling way behind on one read-along, and I can't juggle two at once, I've realized. :-(
