Sneak Peek
Remember how I said that my friend Emily is designing buttons and banners and stuff for my Tolkien-themed blog party? Well, I know the party doesn't start for another 7 weeks, but she's got a bunch of art done for me, and I really want to share. So here are details from two of the bookmarks she's created:
Aren't those amazing? She's done one bookmark for each book in the trilogy. I'm going to print some up to be prizes for the party giveaway, and I'm also trying to figure out a way to offer them as printable downloads for people who participate in the read-along. Still working on that.

DeleteThe Tolkien party sounds cool! I've never read any Tolkien...*hangs head* and I need to hop on the bandwagon. I'm considering reading the first Lord of the Rings book because it just needs to be done...
ReplyDeleteHey, hold off on LOTR until September, and then join my read-along here! I'll be doing a nice, easy pace because, yeah, takes me a while to read a book with three little ones to contend with. So even if you're doing college classes, you could still manage like 2 or 3 chapters a week, right? There's no real timetable for it, other than that I won't post a chapter's discussion until I've finished reading that chapter myself. Then you'll have all the time in the world to respond. I think it would be especially awesome if you join in, as the perspective of another English major would be great to have! (In other words, oh please oh please oh please!)

ReplyDeleteHooray! I'm hoping to get a good mix of readers for the read-along -- those who've read it before, those who haven't, those who read just for the fun of the story, those who spend time digging into things like theme and subtext -- we can all learn from each other!
Delete(Truth be told, I actually majored in Liberal Arts and minored in English and History. Would've majored in English, except my college didn't add it as a major until a few years after I left.)

ReplyDeleteWait until you see the full versions :-D I'm trying to convince her to sell her bookmarks in her Etsy store because they are wonderful. Especially the FOTR bookmark, it's just breathtaking and intricate. That's what the first sample here is from.
