Top Ten Tuesday: Summer Reading, Having a Blast...

This week's prompt from That Artsy Reader Girl is "Books on my summer 2022 reading list."  I have actually already chowed through several books on my summer TBR list, thanks to lots of extra reading time while laid up with my broken arm, but here are ten that are still waiting for me:

  1. The Black Swan by Rafael Sabatini
  2. Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
  3. Laertes by Carly Stevens
  4. Moonfleet by J. Meade Falkner
  5. Possibilities by Debra White Smith
  6. The Prince of Thieves by Alexandre Dumas
  7. Robin Hood the Outlaw by Alexandre Dumas
  8. Rose Petals and Snowflakes by Kendra E. Ardnek
  9. Simply Sara by Hillary Manton Lodge
  10. What Katy Did Next by Susan Coolidge

(from my Instagram)

How about you?  Do you have some books you've been saving for this summer?  Or new releases you're looking forward to?

    1. Olivia, I'm pretty sure I will love Laertes because I really liked the version I beta-ed. A friend sent me Gilead to read while I recuperate, so we'll see what I think of it!

  5. I'm curious about Gilead to, I read Lila, then Gilead, and Gilead put me to a screeching halt. There is a sort of major characterization switch that is just not realistic to me.

    1. DKoren, lol! I mean, I could make that work too... but I was riffing off the song from Grease that goes, "Summer lovin', had me a blast..."

I can't wait to read Dumas' takes on Robin Hood! I will probably start the first one after I finish my current reads.

  7. You know, it makes sense that Sabatini wrote The Black Swan as well as Scaramouche because when I was reading your review of TBS, Jamie Boy's character reminded me quite a bit of the MC in Scaramouche.

    Laertes is sooooooooooooo good.

    1. Eva, it does, doesn't it? Sabatini also wrote The Sea Hawk and the Captain Blood books. And they all have MCs who are daring, resourceful, kind of devil-may-care, and honorable.

I've preordered my copy of Laertes and am eagerly awaiting it!

  8. Robin Hood the Outlaw sounds fascinating! I hope you enjoy them!

    1. DGrandinetti -- doesn't a Dumas retelling of Robin Hood just sound perfect?!? I am very much looking forward to those. Thanks!
