ReplyDeleteOlivia, I'm pretty sure I will love Laertes because I really liked the version I beta-ed. A friend sent me Gilead to read while I recuperate, so we'll see what I think of it!

DeleteI'm curious about Gilead to, I read Lila, then Gilead, and Gilead put me to a screeching halt. There is a sort of major characterization switch that is just not realistic to me.

DeleteI can't wait to read Dumas' takes on Robin Hood! I will probably start the first one after I finish my current reads.
You know, it makes sense that Sabatini wrote The Black Swan as well as Scaramouche because when I was reading your review of TBS, Jamie Boy's character reminded me quite a bit of the MC in Scaramouche.

Eva, it does, doesn't it? Sabatini also wrote The Sea Hawk and the Captain Blood books. And they all have MCs who are daring, resourceful, kind of devil-may-care, and honorable.
