My Life in Books Tag + Vlog

I've seen this tag all over the place, most recently on Coffee, Classics, and Craziness.  Though I haven't been tagged with it, I thought it would be a fun one to do with a vlog!  Ever since I posted those vlogs for the AMA answers on my other blog, I've been looking for something else to do a short vlog for.  My phone camera wasn't behaving the greatest, though, so I ended up answering only three questions in vlog form, each one individually with little, short videos.  Which was fun too.  So here we go!

The Questions:

Find a book for each of your initials.

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Laura by Vera Caspary
Kim by Rudyard Kipling

Count your age along your bookshelf... What book is it?

Pick a book set in your country.

I'll go one better and pick a book set in the state where I currently reside.  Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry takes place in Virginia.

Pick a book that represent a destination you'd love to travel to.

Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery!  I'd love to visit PEI someday.

Pick a book that is your favorite color.

Which book do you have fondest memories of?

Probably The Littlest Snowman by Charles Tazewell.  I made my parents read it to me ad infinitum when I was little.  When they didn't have time (or patience) to read it to me yet again, I would just stare at the pictures.  This was my favorite:

Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

It's a toss-up between Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead and Papillon by Henri Charriere.  Both of them took me MONTHS to get through, which is ridiculous considering that neither of them were particularly long or difficult.  But I had trouble staying interested in both of them.

Which book on your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you read it?

Thanks for reading and watching!  I hereby tag anyone who wants to do this tag :-)

  1. Awww! Really enjoyed reading and watching your answers! How appropriate that Jane Eyre fell in the right slot. I have thrown my books on the shelves

    2. Er, whoa, that was an incomplete sentence and incomplete thought, wasn't it! I meant to say that when I unpacked, I threw the books willy-nilly on the shelves, so it would be weird to see where the book of my age fell.

    3. DKoren, haha! I just thought it was missing a period.

  2. Fun tag, and fun vlog clips. Sorry your camera is giving you trouble. Have you tried a full shut-down and restart on your phone? That usually solves my problems when my phone is giving me sound problems and such.

    Jane Eyre <3

That is a really impressive copy of Moby Dick. The font is really pretty! I hope you enjoy it when you do get around to reading it. It's just to much of a challenge for me. :)

    1. Cordy, what do you know? My phone decided to reboot itself yesterday. So maybe that solved it! I'll have to try taking a movie of my kids or something to see.

Isn't that copy pretty? It had kind of an ugly dustcover that I got rid of because the hardcover itself is pretty.

  4. I always love vlogs. :D

Ooh, that opening picture is Quite Aesthetic. Well done. *clapping*

Hey, I didn't know Misty of Chincoteague was set in Virginia! Huh.

    1. Olivia, I like short vlogs that I have time to watch. Long vlogs, I just... never have time for. If it's longer than like 5 minutes, I'm not going to watch it. Unless it's someone I deeply care about :-)

Yup, Chincoteague and Assateague are islands off the coast of Virginia.

  5. I totally dig how the books you chose to represent your initials are all 'name titles'. :)

  6. Kim by Kipling is such a fantastic story. I love it dearly.

That's a beautiful shade of purple! My favorite shade is probably blueish-purple, but I like so many shades.

I remember reading Moby-Dick--or I should rather say, speed-reading large chunks of Moby Dick--for American Lit in undergrad. It was interesting stuff, but not really my style, I guess. Maybe if I had more time I could delve into it more deeply.

    1. Jessica, it is! I only just read Kim for the first time like 6 years ago, but I liked it so much.

I love how versatile purple is. So many pretty shades!

Moby-Dick feels like a book I will dig when I finally get into it, but I will need to not be reading 3 other things at the same time. It will need concentration and time. Maybe this summer, who knows.

  7. Purple is my favorite color too! It's difficult to find a purple that is not too red or blue. I should look into the Stonewycke Trilogy. I've seen the books, but I've never looked at the backs to see what the stories are about. If you liked the books, I'm sure I will also like them. :-)

    1. Ekaterina, I like the second Stonewycke trilogy better than the first. Could just be me :-) But I do enjoy all 6 books.

  8. I'll be your biggest cheerleader if you read Moby Dick! Heck, I'll read it with you. (I may be sorry I said that, but right now I feel totally serious.) :D
