And I'm happy to see (upon searching) that I can get a used copy of Harold Bloom's book for cheap...as far as I know, I haven't any rich relatives who would leave me an inheritance, so until one turns up, I’m on a college budget. :)Justicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10291076406032710946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587150608901957801.post-65875142366549771622019-05-29T10:45:38.334-04:002019-05-29T10:45:38.334-04:00Hi, Justice! I am afraid I haven't read any books specifically about JE yet, but there are several that I've got earmarked as something I'd like to read at some point. These are they:

+ Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre by Harold Bloom
+ Understanding Jane Eyre by Debra Teachman
+ The Brontes and Religion by Marianne Thormahlen
+ We Are Three Sisters: Self and Family in the Writing of the Brontes by Drew Lamonica

Hope that helps! Harold Bloom is probably the one I'd call a must-read, as his insights into literature continually astound me.Hamlette (Rachel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11961916847426233995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587150608901957801.post-59950935534212352682019-05-27T17:42:05.489-04:002019-05-27T17:42:05.489-04:00Hi Hamlette,

I’m strongly leaning towards doing a study of the role of theology/faith in Jane Eyre, especially in terms of how it influences Jane’s decisions and character. Part of my study may focus on the religious influences in Charlotte Bronte’s life, as well.

Since (as a 5+ year fan of your blog) I know you love Jane Eyre and have a similar eye to mine for Christianity in literature, I was wondering if you could recommend any particular books or other resources that might help me in my research. As it currently stands, I have a little more than a year to take this project from first idea to finished seminar, and I’d like to use the time to do the best scholarship I can on the subject.

Please and thanks!

Justicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10291076406032710946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587150608901957801.post-78699914563704758832017-01-18T19:30:58.458-05:002017-01-18T19:30:58.458-05:00Yay!
